In the early days of Edo era, his son Munenori YAGYU became a kenjutsu teacher in the TOKUGAWA family and his school gained notoriety. It became Edo's school of Yagyu shinkage-ryu. Muneyoshi YAGYU's grandson later developed the technique in Owari Domain (Aichi Prefecture) where other members of the TOKUGAWA family are living and created Yagyu Shinkage-ryu Owari School.
